Founded in 1994, Barge Civil Associates, LLC (BCA) is a Nashville-based civil engineering firm specializing in site planning, design and land development services for private- and public-sector clients.

Dan Barge, III and John Cauthen founded Barge Cauthen & Associates on January 17, 1994, after decades of working together in Nashville. Due to their established relationships and reputation in the local market, Dan and John had 69 clients by the end of their first year. Under Dan’s leadership, BCA became well-known in Middle Tennessee as a reliable and high-quality firm with the relationships to navigate Tennessee’s growing market and the skillset to deliver on complex projects.

In 2023, Barge Cauthen & Associates re branded to Barge Civil Associates to reflect the firm’s evolution. Ownership and day-to-day leadership of the firm have since transitioned to John Gore and Jeff Hooper.

Our team is made up of experienced professionals who have collaborated with some of the top architectural design firms in the country, as well as globally-oriented design/build firms. BCA’s staff includes ten licensed professional engineers, with two earning the accreditation “Certified Floodplain Manager” with the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Additionally, Barge Civil Associates is certified as a small business through the State of Tennessee.
