John joined BCA in 2001 a few years after graduating from Tennessee Tech University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. John has been involved in some of Nashville’s most notable projects such as: 225 Polk Avenue, Peabody Union, and Peabody Plaza downtown and all of the region’s Hill Centers including the largest Hill Center located in Brentwood. Walkability and thoughtful urban development are important to John. He served as Chair on the Mayor’s Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and is active in the Nashville chapter of Urban Land Institute serving as Committee Chair for the ULI Civic Leadership Forum. In 2018, John became a Shareholder in the firm and continues to excel in his commitment to our clients. In 2020, John Gore received Engineer of the Year Award from the Nashville Business Journal’s Commercial Real Estate Leadership Awards committee for his outstanding contributions to development in the city.

Jeff graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and joined BCA in 2000. In 2003, Jeff was selected by his peers to receive the prestigious “Young Engineer of the Year” Award by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. He has taken active roles in TSPE and ASCE, and was past president of the Engineers Association of Nashville and the Nashville branch of ASCE. Jeff is extremely adept at collaborating with design/build team members for large-campus projects such as Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s New Garage and Terminal Building, completed in 2019, and the TopGolf Recreational Facility, completed in 2017 (an 18-acre development sited amongst several engineering design challenges). Jeff was named a Principal of the firm in 2018.

Anna’s career with Barge Civil Associates began in 2007. Anna graduated in 2004 with a degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. She returned to her hometown of Las Vegas for a short time but made her way back to Nashville to become part of the BCA team. Anna is an active member of ASCE and has been a member of the Metro Stormwater Management Committee since 2013. With experience in commercial, institutional and industrial development, Anna has been involved in a variety of projects such as Kenect Nashville, Virgin Hotel Nashville, Vanderbilt University’s Engineering and Science Building, and MDHA’s Cayce Place and Kirkpatrick Park multi-family homes.

Ryan graduated Cum Laude from Auburn University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2012. After graduation, he spent a year overseas as an intern with Engineering Ministries International. In 2014, he moved to Nashville to began his career as a civil engineer, and joined the BCA team in 2018. Ryan is a licensed P.E. in Tennessee and a Certified Floodplain Manager designing a variety of projects including the new Asurion headquarters downtown, the Nashville Warehouse Company mixed-use project and many contemporary, single-family townhomes and condos in downtown and East Nashville.

Dan Barge founded Barge Cauthen & Associates, Inc. in 1994 after nearly 20 years with Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon. Dan graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee. Dan has been an active member of ASCE, NSPE and TSPE as well as The Nashville Rotary Club during his professional career. Dan has built decades-long relationships with several of Nashville’s well-known businesses, educational, and government entities such as: H.G. Hill Realty, Vanderbilt University, Montgomery Bell Academy, Harding Academy, Metro Water Services, Metro Development and Housing Agency, and Metro Planning Commission.

Matt is a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana earning his Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering in 1996. Matt relocated to Nashville to join the BCA team in 2002. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. His expertise in sportsfield designs and turf products can be seen in stadiums and field renovations designed for the University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, Duke University, as well as multiple track and field upgrades for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Currently Matt is the Project Civil Engineer for the Major League Soccer Stadium and the Fairgrounds Site Infrastructure Improvements.

Sara graduated summa cum laude in 2001 from Auburn University. In 2007, she joined BCA and is a project manager for a variety of municipal, institutional, and commercial projects. Sara’s projects include site layout, grading, geometric design, safety improvements, storm water management plans, drainage design and stormwater quality design. In addition, she has experience with both new and reconstructed roadway projects encompassing pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic calming, signage, and pavement markings, parking, and traffic management plans.

A graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology in 1995, Shelley is highly dedicated to working with design teams toward a common design goal. Shelley has worked nearly exclusively for Vanderbilt University since joining BCA in 2000 on some of the industry’s most notable projects including Ingram Commons, Warren & Moore Residential Colleges, E. Bronson Ingram Residential College and is continuing with two additional Residential Colleges for Vanderbilt to be constructed in the upcoming years. She is savvy with large-campus projects such as these residential colleges as well as the Oak Hill School / Church Masterplanning and Design and the First Presbyterian Church Addition.

Suzanne graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1993 and a Master of Science degree in 1995, both in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University. She is a licensed P.E. and has worked in Chicago and Nashville on projects involving urban and transportation planning and traffic engineering. She joined the BCA team in 2017 and enjoys working on a wide variety of site design projects that include educational facilities and campuses, industrial warehouses, office and commercial developments, and recreational/sporting venues.

Barry Quinn achieved his B.S., cum laude in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1984. He is a Professional Engineer registered in Tennessee and is also a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). Barry began his employment with BCA in 2007 as Vice President. Prior to that, he was employed by Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon, Inc. in the Nashville and Ohio offices from 1978 through 2007 in various positions. His most recent experience was as the Tennessee Business Unit Leader for Transportation with AECOM, prior to re-joining BCA in 2019.

Seth earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee in 1995 and a M.A. from MTSU in 1999. Since joining BCA in 2008, he has been the project designer on a multitude of land development projects collaborating from the conceptual/preliminary planning through as-built survey phases. Seth has participated in the design of a diverse plate of projects including the Sewanee Inn, First Baptist Church, Nashville, the award-winning Madison and Smith Springs Community/Fitness Centers, and Mars Petcare U.S. Headquarters located within the acclaimed “Ovation” project in Franklin TN (10-year buildout of 500 acres) that which Seth has been involved with since the preliminary stage of design.

Shannon has nearly a decade of experience in stormwater management, stream restoration, and hydraulics and hydrology. With a lifelong passion for sustainability, she strives to ensure that the built environment is responsibly designed to mitigate the impact of stormwater and flooding. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware.

Alyson graduated from The University of Alabama in 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. After graduation, she worked as an Engineer Intern in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Alyson moved to Nashville to join the BCA team working in civil site planning and design for various projects.

Alex joined BCA as a Design Engineer during May of 2020 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Alex has worked and assisted on a variety of residential and mixed-use urban projects around the Nashville area. Notable projects include: 12th South Ashwood, Albion in the Gulch, Peabody Union, and June Lake Flats. Alex plans to continue growing professionally and become a Professional Engineer in the near future.

Matthew is a 2021 graduate of The University of Tennessee Knoxville with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. During college, he served as the Lead Designer on his Senior Design Project which entailed designing a modular wall system for the construction of an indoor testbed facility using steel stud framing and in accordance with SSMA guidelines. For two years following graduation, he was an Engineer Intern at TDOT gaining valuable knowledge in transportation/roadway design. At BCA, he has worked on a diverse list of projects including the long-awaited Mixed-Use development at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

Caleb graduated from Tennessee Technological University in May of 2023 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. A native Tennessean, he spent summers working at a local steel fabricator as a project management intern which led to an interest in site design and development. Upon graduation, Caleb passed his F.E. exam and joined BCA to work on civil site planning and design.

Kathleen McLeod is 2023 graduate of Saint Mary’s College with a B.S. in Mathematics a 2024 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. She interned with BCA in the summer of 2022 and returned upon her graduation in 2024 because she loves the great folks here and the work we do. She is also excited to be working in her hometown of Nashville.

Kathryn graduated from the University of Alabama in 2021 with a B.S in Civil Engineering and a minor in Construction Engineering. While there she was involved in multiple research projects testing aggregates and concrete mix designs for the university’s Department of Civil Engineering testing . She also served as President of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) chapter. Kathryn began her career with BCA in 2022 working on stormwater and site design projects while pursuing her P.E. license.

Jonathan graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2020 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. During college, he assisted his Senior Design team in the structural redesign of a marina docking system located in Hawkins County, Tennessee. Following graduation, he joined the Safety team at TDOT as a Transportation Project Specialist where he gained valuable knowledge of construction and maintenance operations within the transportation industry. Jonathan joined the team at BCA in 2023 to pursue a career in civil site planning/design and ultimately gain his P.E. license.

Tracey is an East Tennessee native and graduated from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1997 with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering and a B.S. in Animal Science. After graduation and passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, she relocated to the Nashville area and gained a variety of experience in the civil engineering field, some of which included industrial and recreational site design, bridge replacements, floodplain management and traffic assessments. Tracey took several years off to homeschool her two daughters but has now returned to civil engineering and joined BCA in 2023. She will be involved with stormwater design and other areas of civil engineering.

Emmy graduated from Virginia Tech in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) and a minor in Spanish. Throughout her college career, she interned with a general contractor in her hometown Richmond, Virginia and on the Virginia Tech campus. Her love of live music and Southern hospitality brought her to Nashville after graduation, where she worked as a Project Engineer for a general contractor before joining BCA in May 2023. She is looking forward to applying her construction background to civil site planning and design while pursuing her licensure.

Jeremy received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. As a student he was involved in many organizations and held leadership positions in the National Society of Black Engineers, TN Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. During the summers, Jeremy would intern at TDOT and work different leadership camps for high school students. Upon graduating, he worked in public utilities and site design around the Middle Tennessee area, Michigan, and Ohio. Joining the BCA team in 2023, Jeremy is very excited to continue his career in site planning for developments around the Nashville area.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. She was drawn to civil engineering so that she could use math and science to provide creative solutions for communities.

Marcie joined BCA in 1998 and manages the accounting responsibilities for the firm including accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, payroll and payroll taxes, project reporting and accounts reporting. She is extremely knowledgeable of many accounting software platforms and successfully converted BCA’s financial systems twice as BCA’s growth required improved software functionality. She works closely with our clients to ensure accurate project accounting.

Before joining BCA in 2012, Heather worked in a variety of environments from business to advertising to education accumulating over 30 years of experience in office administration. She is the face of our front office and assists in providing day-to-day support.

Jodi has 15 years of experience in marketing for engineering firms and general contractors. She leads marketing, business development, and external communications for the firm. With degrees in marketing and broadcast communications from Western Kentucky University, Jodi enjoys using the technical details of a project to tell the story of how our teams deliver creative solutions.

Matt joined BCA in 1996 as a civil designer and also tinkered with the computers in the office. His aptitude and passion for computer sciences were welcomed at BCA and led him into creating the position of IT Systems Manager. Matt is wholly responsible for the equipment, systems, servers, communication and software being utilized by the firm.

Barry is a native Tennessean with extensive knowledge in the civil engineering industry having decades worth of work experience in surveying and computer aided design and drafting. Barry brings valuable knowledge of land descriptions, plats, deeds, ALTA, boundary and topo surveys, construction plans and as-built documents when he was employed by a surveying company prior to joining our firm in 2005. Since 2005, Barry has enjoyed a successful supportive role assisting all of the project managers with their project submittals and deadlines.

Rachel is a graduate of Miller Motte Technical College and joined the BCA Team in 2015. She has assisted in the design and development of numerous residential, commercial and government projects for several project engineers. She is highly-proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software and her attention to detail produces useful, legible construction documents for our clients.

Preston is a veteran CAD Designer with a diverse background in civil, utility, and environmental engineering design. He earned an Associates of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Nashville State Technical Institute in 1990, where he was later asked to become a member of the Adjunct Teaching Staff due to his aptitude in computer aided design and drafting. Preston was also part of the teaching faculty for Metro’s Nashville Adult Continuing Education program offered by MNPS. Since joining BCA in 2000, he has been involved in many types of GIS and mapping projects as well as AutoCAD design for private and public sector projects.

Marium is a rising junior at Tennessee State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a minor in biology. She previously completed an internship with the Tennessee Department of Transportation focused on roadway design. Outside of class, Marium is involved with TSU's Muslim Student Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Islamic Center of Nashville.

Josh is a rising senior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, studying civil engineering with a focus on environmental and water resource engineering. In addition to his classes, he serves as a campus ambassador for UTC and is active in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity.
