Dan Barge founded Barge Cauthen & Associates, Inc. in 1994 after nearly 20 years at Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee. Dan has been an active member of ASCE, NSPE and TSPE as well as The Nashville Rotary Club during his professional career. His contributions to the civil engineering design industry in Nashville have been numerous including his appointment by Mayor Purcell to serve on the SR2C Committee which updated Metro Stormwater Regulations for Nashville in 2004, and again for the post May 2010 flood wherein he was asked to join the ad hoc task force that developed the “no adverse impact” language for the Floodplain Ordinance. Dan has enjoyed decades-long relationships with several of Nashville’s well-known businesses, educational facilities, and government entities such as: H.G. Hill Realty, Vanderbilt University, Montgomery Bell Academy, Harding Academy, Metro Water Services, Metro Development and Housing Agency, and Metro Planning Commission. Mr. Barge was honored to have been selected by his peers in development as one of Nashville’s Power Leaders in Commercial Real Estate in 2016 and 2017.
John is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. He joined Barge Cauthen & Associates, Inc. in 2001 and has been actively involved in the site planning and design of hundreds of noteworthy real estate development projects in Davidson County. In 2018, John became a Shareholder in the firm and continues to excel in his commitment to our clients producing site layouts that are functional and cost-effective in nature. John has provided planning, conceptual visioning and design development services for some of Nashville’s most notable projects such as: 225 Polk Avenue, Peabody Union, and Peabody Plaza downtown and all of the region’s Hill Center’s including the largest Hill Center located in Brentwood. Walkability and thoughtful urban development are important to John as is evidenced by his previous Chair position of the Mayor’s Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. In addition, John is active in the Nashville chapter of Urban Land Institute and is serving as Committee Chair for the ULI Civic Leadership Forum.
Jeff graduated from TN Technological University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and joined BC&A in 2000. In 2003, Jeff was selected by his peers to receive the prestigious “Young Engineer of the Year” Award by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. He has taken active roles in TSPE, ASCE and was past-President of Engineers Association of Nashville and the Nashville branch of ASCE. Jeff is extremely adept at collaborating with Design/Build team members for large-campus projects such as Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s New Garage and Terminal Building completed in 2019, and the TopGolf Recreational Facility completed in 2017 (an 18-acre development sited amongst several engineering design challenges). In 2018, Jeff Hooper was named a Principal of the firm.
Liza has enjoyed a successful career in Office and Business Management in the civil engineering design industry that expands over three decades. She joined BC&A a month after its formation in 1994 as “Employee No. 4” and has had the honor of participating in the huge success and growth of the firm ever since. In 2018, she was named a Partner with the firm and continues to coordinate with the project management team on higher-level administrative tasks that impact the flow of information, communication and productivity. Other responsibilities are centered around the daily business operations including personnel, marketing, contract management, document management and retention, and asset inventory to name a few.
