The new two-story library is designed to be a community hub that brings modern library services to the Donelson area. The facility is a part of the Donelson Plaza, a 1960s-era shopping center that was redeveloped into a mixed-use redevelopment. The design of the library was inspired by and complements the mid-century design of Donelson Plaza. The site’s natural slope enabled underground parking beneath the library’s first floor, creating space for a nearly half-acre front lawn. This outdoor area features shaded reading spaces, a pet-friendly hydration station, public artwork, and flexible space for library programming.

As a LEED Gold-certified facility, sustainability was a key priority for the entire team. The project included 30 geothermal wells that provide energy-efficient heating and cooling, permeable pavers and a bioswale.
